Togo raised CFA22 billion on the West African Monetary Union (WAMU) regional financial market on August 7 as investor bids reached five times the amount initially sought.
The government had targeted CFA20 billion through an issue of Treasury bonds. According to official results, investors submitted CFA100 billion in bids, producing a coverage rate of 500%. The Treasury ultimately accepted CFA22 billion.
The level of demand reflects strong investor interest in Togolese government securities.
More Than 60% of Annual Target Already Raised
The latest transaction brings Togo’s total fundraising on the regional market since the start of 2026 to CFA285 billion. The country has now secured just over 61% of its annual CFA463.5 billion financing target through the UMOA-Titres market.
The proceeds will help finance Togo’s 2026 state budget, which is balanced at CFA2.75 trillion in revenue and expenditure.
